Happy Birthday, National Park Service!! Thank you for protecting our public lands!
“If future generations are to remember us with gratitude rather than contempt, we must leave them something more than the miracles of technology. We must leave them a glimpse of the world as it was in the beginning, not just after we got through with it.
– Lyndon B. Johnson, President of the United States
We must not only protect the country side and save it from destruction, we must restore what has been destroyed and salvage the beauty and charm of our cities…Once our natural splendor is destroyed, it can never be recaptured. And once man can no longer walk with beauty or wonder at nature, his spirit will wither and his sustenance be wasted”

On August 25, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson created the National Park Service (NPS) to care for the special places saved by the American people so that all may experience our heritage. Today marks the 103rd Anniversary of that day!

In total, the United States has 419 areas, covering 85 million acres, that are protected by the NPS. In 2018 318+million people visited these sites and have experienced the beauty of our country. On August 25th, to celebrate the anniversary of the NPS, and other days throughout the year, you can visit any of these areas, including the National Parks free of charge. Learn more here!
National Parks restore the spirit. Some of the most varied and diverse environments that leave you breathless are, luckily, protected by the NPS. Because these magical places have been protected for us, we have the ability to stand in the middle of a herd of buffalo, see thousands of prairie dogs scrambling about their towns, lay our eyes on the pronghorn, the fastest animal in the US or watch a graceful bull elk foraging in the forest.
The majesty of these incredible parks offer the opportunity to fill your lungs with fresh air, have thoughtful social interactions and quiet places to be alone in solitude with your thoughts and feelings.
It is our responsibility as the visitors to these lands to encourage and promote ethical enjoyment so they are preserved for future generations to come.
The goal of Queen of Adventure is to share our perspective and experience in these incredible parks. In addition, we document the travels of two best friends, living in an RV and traveling around the country. We love to hike, kayak and seek the heart pounding rush of seeing a majestic animal in it’s natural habitat.
Step away from the stress of your everyday life. Get outside. Do something you’ve never done. See something you’ve never seen. Breathe in the fresh air. Find your park and do your part to protect it!
